Thanks to all who advised on this topic. All the advice, tho, seems to be about software. Most of my puzzlement comes at the hardware end. Audio equipment output lines come with RCA plugs, mini-phone jacks, or bare wires. I don't see input ports for any of these modes anywhere near my computer.
