Edit the 'Abbreviated staff name' in Staff Attributes giving it the name
that you want to appear.

This is correct, however the Finder Archive Utility puts some goofy
"hidden" files that won't be hidden on PC. Not a big deal, but may
confuse the novice computer user. I use a free program called Yemu Zip
that only archives the file without the extras.

When wanting to do this, I've replaced the notehead character with a
blank one, using the Note Shape Tool (character 202 in Maestro, for
instance), and used staff styles to get rid of the stems.
