program can run locally while connected to a remote soundcard. Obviously

least I can use 6m when the sporadic-e Deities switch the propagation

While tuning over 50MHz with Ham Radio Deluxe + new beta 1.4.4 (I think it
is) I noticed that the receiver couldn't keep up with rapid changes in
frequency. After a few fast changes I got almost no audio output until the
frequency had been constant for maybe ~ 200ms or so.

Soundcards support many formats, 16 bit 8000 Hz is a basic format and is all
that is needed for PSK31, anything more is overkill. HRD and WinWarbler use
the same core software for PSK31 send / receive.
