Well the price is certainly right and I prefer vCom to paying for
everyone. I suggest we gather the reports of the stopped ports in some
effective manner and zero in on the problem. I would not be surprised
to find that Eltima has handled some ugly condition caused by badly
written third
I have a feeling that it may be some subtle difference with the way
vCOM handles the lines like RTS/CTS and DSR/DTR that may be causing
problems with certain third party applications. Or it may be that the
serial port access code in PowerSDR (which I wrote) is expecting some
timing of those

For digital modes, I am now using two separate computers: One
dedicated to running the SDR-1000 (only) and a second running the
digital program. Only two audio cables and a null modem adapter was
needed to set this up. I have full CAT control, etc. It was far
easier than configuring VAC and VCOM.

Yes - I did this as an interim step to avoid the VAC hiccups, using
hardware audio cables from my D-44 to my on-board sound card, all
within the same computer. I used VCOM for CAT. BTW, VCOM worked
perfectly for me. I had plenty of hardware

Jerry, I also have 2 computers, ... How did you connect the 2

Good idea. This can also be done in the same computer if you have

I have been successfully using HotWheels this weekend while playing in

only negative, in fact, is that it relies on the scroll lock key being

vCom has served us very well indeed thanks to Phil and as always, the
price was indeed right. Many experience drop outs of the serial lines
between your external programs and the PowerSDR. I have looked for an
alternative to vCom for quite a while that might fix this issue since I

Hi Bob, I am one of the happy campers who enjoys using vCOM every day
without any problems. The Eltima product might be an expensive solution
looking for a problem.
I use vCOM for both CAT connectivity (6-16 pair) and CW keying (7-17
pair) between MixW and PowerSDR. I have used vCOM with
