Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply, and my apologies...despite your discussion (some of
which I agree with), I honestly can't tell if you agree with my position (or
not), but from your reply's tenor I suspect you disagree. My position
remains as stated below:

Hi Peter,
I believe your statement that SWR is affected by the generator's impedance
is a common misconception. Actually, SWR, as is typically defined, is
independent of generator (i.e. transmitter, in our case)
is an swr of 1:1.

A question for the group. On the "transmit" tab I have the Tune set to Zero.
I still have 35w output as I click the Tune button. Is that normal? Also on
my external wattmeter, the power out in the "Tune" position, is very unstable.
It will "flutter" back and forth by as much as 25-30 watts.
By the way, my current mode of operation is as follows:
Warm up the 756 Pro and amp. Listen on the sdr. When I find a dx station I
want to work, I switch to the Icom to work him. Just this morning I found
Zone 18 calling on 80 longpath. Switched to the Icom and worked him, then back

Last night on the same antenna, swr on the external digital meter, 1.05 , power
out on Tune- 11w.
This morning without changing a thing, swr 3.8, power out on Tune 42w.
Of course putting another radio in its place, swr 1.0 as usual.
The puzzling part is that this happens so far only on one part

Thanks for all the replies to my original problem with the differing swr
readings between the sdr and other rigs. Of course like so many other things
about this sdr, it is not consistent. Tonight when I tried again, the swr on
the same antenna with the sdr is 1/1. Power level is 10 watts.

Is this with the tuner in or out on the SDR1000?
