My son's clamshell iBook has developed the annoying
problem of (occasionally) not being able to wake from
sleep.
It is an intermittent problem, probably occurring
about 1/3 to 1/2 the time. He puts the iBook to sleep
(either by using the menu command or just closing the
lid) and it fails to wake
Turn off the sleep mode (energy saver) in system preferences (OSX). You
do not
need it.

It's easy to install an Airport card, extremely difficult to install a
hard drive.
Not that bad - not as easy as the Powerbooks, but certainly not a patch on
the iceBooks.
Of course if you do that you may as well replace the CD with a CDRW while
you're in there.

I have the same computer. I put a Pc-100 512MB chip in it.
Panther runs great. So much faster then jaguar. I don't have OS9 on my computer
at all. But Photoshop CS works great on it.

it will not boot from the HD, the Jaguar Disk or OS9.1 Disk. The screen

This iBook does not have a PRAM battery. I think it uses a capacitor
that's good for a very short times--the time to unscrew the battery and
replace it--if you're lucky. The big battery is the only battery in it.
If the main battery is dead, you need to run it with the adapter and get

someone like bti--is that they have been on the shelf and die. I bought
two from overstock.com and they were d.o.a. i was able to bring them
back to life with a vst charger... others have not been able to do that

all, come with an extender cable. I have 2 - 128MB flash drives from

You should be fine. I started using Mac OS X 10.1.x initially on a
Wallstreet at 300 MHz and I was happy. Jaguar (10.2) is way faster than 10.1
