The limits in the classic OS are controlled on a per app basis, in
the parameters you see when you do the get-info. Those parameters
are simply *limits*. They tell the memory management system that the
app may have UP TO that amount. They do not require that the app
be given that memory.

odd. The PowerBook was plugged in? No problems with its HD?
Check the system.log for errors.

Yes. It has no battery and the internal backup (PRAM) battery is dead, but

practice,,, you often end up with less secure connections! IMO it is
better to simply disable the protocols that are known to be insecure.

support for things like QTVR, interactive QT movies, and MIDI. To do
any of those missing things, QTKit spawns off a helper process that
runs QuickTime 7, in 32-bit mode Nice kludge, eh?
