HI Dar,
Actually in Space Invaders, the invaders moved quite a lot from side to side.
When there are fewer invaders and they have more room to move, they alternate
traveling left and right as they come down the screen.
Thanks,
Cara :)

Am curious myself! :)
I have been considering getting an Atari Flashback 4 and possibly a 2 and have
a 60 inch 3D plasma screen so am wondering how games like Tempest etc would
come off.
Tempest was originally done in color vector graphics so looked absolutely
amazingly cool in the arcade. I'm
HI Thomas,
Very much agree here. :)
this is really a close topic to my heart in that adapting some earlier arcade
games into audio is something I am really thinking about of late.
Even adapting some of these simple games proves to be a serious task.
As an example, how would we here, consider a
Dark, thanks for this.
These are great points.
I was thinking in regard to your original post that you were talking about the
idea of having a slower, less challenging audio environment so thank you for
clearing this up for me.
As I'd mentioned before as well, there are quite a number of visua
Wow Lori!
Them's strong words! :)
Trust me, we're workin' on it! :)
Josh and I are both extremely busy people so it is happening but just because
it is not quick does not mean it will not be worth it! :)
Thanks and have a great evening!
Smiles,
Cara :)

Hi Dark,
While I love the concept of working within the audio environment for its
strengths rather than trying in essence to make it fit a visual modality, I
also personally kind of shy away from games which do this to a large degree.
Visually, one still needs to have some advanced notice of an
Thomas, excellent points!
Some of the simplest concepts can be extraordinarily difficult to translate
into audio with any sense of simplicity and intuitiveness.
For example, I believe Dark has alluded to this in the past; the concept of
displaying the height of an object in a game with pitch is
Hi Thomas,
Thanks to you and Dark and others for this really great topic.
Thomas, I personally think the attention span concept is a very important issue
here. A significant amount of gaming is now done on mobile platforms which
harkens back to my mention of games which can be played for a shor
Hi Thomas,
Unfortunately for the view you are expressing here, the universal criteria is
precisely the aspect you seem to be dismissing.
I.E. the crowd itself is expressing the universality of what represents a
'good' audio game.
It may not be what I like, it may not be what you like, but it a
HI Dark,
Regardless of whether you like it or not, or think it is valid or not, people
in the real world are in essence, relativistic. To say that this in effect,
devalues them or their opinions is simply a value judgement on your part.
Whether any of us likes it, we all have the right to say w
Hi John,
Very glad to help.
I'm curious to see if others here have different approaches to either of ours
as well.
Best of luck and please do let us know how your game is going if you would?
Thanks a bunch and have a great day!
Smiles,
Cara :)
