A while ago I acquired an excellent condition Berlin Schmidt horn that had work
done by Steve Lewis and Dan Rauch. I know that when Dan Rauch converted the
bell to detachable bell he put one of his screw rings on it and manufactured

I figured I'd give you the first dibs. I have two reynolds chambers horns, 1
nickel 1 brass. The brass horn has serial number 72000 and the nickel horn
serial number 78000. Both have the heavy bell and shorter leadpipe. The brass

Because everyone can't be Bill Vermuelen and might want to be, here is a neat
little trick to see how the aparture works.
In a rehearsal for Mozart 29 I sat next to the oboe player and we

Alan Wiltshire is the nicest guy and will answer any questions you may need. Don't go

notes. Some times this happens especially when from the factory. The metal might be
thicker if I'm not mistaken they hand spin there bells? That one seam by the

are such great playing horns because of the smoothness through the taper of the

Take out whatever slide individually we'll say third slide, blow into the f
side of horn witht he 3rd valve down and determine which side the air blows
out of. Once determined put your finger on that side of the tubing and blow
into the horn with the third valve down. If there is any leaky
