Hi,
i'm really interested in getting a deeper understanding of IBM z/VM.
I was very happy that IBM offers now a evaluation version of z/VM 5.3 to
everyone:

Hi, Marc.
The unfortuate status of the z/VM 5.3 evaluation version is
that it's license from IBM states that it can only be
installed on a z10 system. Installing it anywhere else would
be a violation of the license terms.
Yes, Hercules can run the evaluation version, so I've been
told, but not

We have found that after we open an FTP session to a VM minidisk, FTPSERVE

Hercules can run most IBM z/xxx products along with the older VM/ESA and VSE

Updates to the CP nucleus would never require a reIPL in a short time: the
CP nucleus resides in storage, storing a new one on MAINT CF1 doesn't harm
at all.
However, if there are updates to the CMS resident, many CMS users are at
risk after PUT2PROD, you can restart them one by one or by a reIPL.

Yeah, that's the limitation of using the LCDS boxyou only get a class G
user id. Useful if you want to learn CMS commands and facilities, but not
so good if you want to do MAINT level stuff

Install the demo system there. There's plenty of space, and that actually
might be a legal venue.
Where is this discussed? When I search the books on the RSCS shelf for

I'd say the recovery userid you specify will be ignored.
In fact, in such a single user GCS userid you could run RSCS, VTAM, VSCS,

the death of them all. That's -I guess- why the help mentions test
