I live in a small country town (pop. 8,000) which is a

My pillows are stored under a roll top writing desk
when not in use. (the desk is used to store lots of
lace making bits and pieces). They are-

I've never tried embroidery floss, but two years ago I was fortunate
enough to discover a great display of (Indian I think) "Sifonda" silk
(not art silk, real silk) at a craft centre called Mandini, near Merimbula

Torchon Lace by Jane Atkinson? It's a circular edging.
The pattern is one-fifth of a circle, but when I printed it out onto
thin cardboard and checked that it would form a circle, I came
up about 1 inch short on the 5th repeat.

I have incorporated one of my old macrame rings (I knew I'd
find a use for them eventually) into my drawcloth. The ring is
about 3 inches in diameter. I cut two squares of fabric about
10 inches by 10 inches, and trace the inside of the ring onto
the very centre of one piece
