I have mine minimized and placed in the upper right corner so that I can
review reports in PDF format at the same time as I go through a quality

in that location afterwards, as it does every time I open Legacy.

Sometimes Windows itself does not remember window sizes properly. If you
drag the corners to whatever size you want, then hold down the Ctrl key
while clicking the "X" to close the window it should stick. Or it might be
holding down the shift key, I don't recall. Do it both ways and you should

The first time you open Legacy after deleting the file, it will open small.
When you resize the windows, then close Legacy, the next time it should open
to the size it was when you closed it.
Thanks for using Legacy.

Thank you Jim. I regretted the tone of my message after I sent it. My
apologys to the group. I also wondered after I sent it if perhaps earlier
versions (than XP) of windows worked differently regarding remembering the
variable size settings at last exit.

When you are entering a place and the window "County Didn't Exist Then" pops
up, what do you do next?
Example: An event happened in 1640 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts, USA
Essex County didn't exist until 1643. The State of Massachusetts didn't exist
until 1788.
Would I put:
Salem Settlement,
It has always been my understanding that you should record the location
as it existed at the time of the event, in this case, Massachusetts Bay
Colony.

I agree, but I have never seen where someone uses the colonial place naming.
All the place naming that I have seen for colonial times use town, county,
state, USA.
Can someone show me a website that use the colonial names for places?

Since I don't use the "short" placename I have long considered using "short"
placename for "at the time of the event" and "long" placename for the
current location. Wouldn't it be great if Legacy provided this option or
allowed user to relable "long and short" to "then and now"?

Hi Denise,
What a treasure of information to have in your possession. I would suggest
that you first enter all of the vital information for each individual into a
Legacy family file. Either use your existing family file or a new family
file until you get it all sorted out. Then, the photos and
