Thank you Cathy - your suggestions have been very helpful.

Art,
This is what the Residence Event is for. Whenever I find a new address for
someone then I add a Residence event with at least the date and Location
included. In the description I would add things like census, birth, son's
birth etc (or leave blank) as appropriate.

Another question though - If I have 10 pieces (for example birth

You might not want to use all 10 documents as a source for the same
information. Some

That's brilliant - I didn't know you could do that!

Hi Jenny,
I should have added - a right click in the same place takes you
backwards through the list of siblings.
Do you know you can click to the side of a spouse to cycle through
their spouses? and to the side of parents to bring up another set of
parents when there is more than one set?
I suspect every person has their own standard way of entering the data.
I try to always transcribe the whole entry for the household into the
source, unless it is a very large household or institution. Sometimes it
can be useful in the future to be able to refer back to a lodger, boarder
etc as
I would put in a residence event for each address (and for each person
who lived there) with the year. I have 15 addresses for my father's
family in 10 years -- I think my grandfather was trying to avoid the
rent man.

Another option Art, if you don't know exactly what years were in what

overall years in that town, and under notes list the various street

Did you try what Bill suggested in his response to your first copy of

Hi Janis,
Well you may be wrong two times a day, but like a broken clock, you could be
right two times a day as well.
I had thought that this thread had just about run it's course, but I still had

Also, if you RIGHT click between the main couple in Family View you go
to the PREVIOUS sibling. I didn't know this until it was mentioned by

I have to admit that I stopped reading these posts long ago, as I was
tired of the thread. But today I discovered one of the best reasons
for people to do splitting of sources, rather than lumping (which is
my favorite way of doing it). This may have been already raised, and
if so, I apologize
That's the point, Pat. You need to start with that first child, and
now they come up to the main family view. You add the event to that
person, save that person, then do the click between that person and
the spouse. Open the next sibling that appears, enter the event (using

Yeah, I'm a splitter that (99% of the time) records my Source Detail within

We do need some better search facilities for finding source detail

The advantages of lumping is that you have more printing flexibility.
