I have to confess I did not report this as a bug because I dont' think
it is a bug. In my opinion this is a result of faulty logic
I believe that the statistics are not calculated correctly.
For example in my database the average lifespans by century never exceed
20 years whereas the averages by gender are male: 57 yrs 2Mon, female 56
Years 4 month. These numbers are clearly inconsistent and point to a
difference in the
which is close enough to Legacy's
calculation of 15 years 8 months and 23 days to suggest that this is the
method being used to calculate the average lifespan by century.

Forgetting all the issues of accuracy with the GRO Index it is worth
noting that an individual has 42 days in which to register a birth so a
13 week quarter on the birth index covers up to 18 weeks of possible
dates of birth. Deaths on the other hand are required to be registered

There is a way to tag all the locations containing Sumter but what you

It involves changing the sort order step-by-step and the number of steps

The elephant in the room here is the GEDCOM standard which is 18 years
old (5.5) and doesn't support charing. GEDCOM 5.5.1 is used extensively
but apparently has not been approved and in any case it is 15 years
old. More recent efforts to change or extend the standard seem to have
foundered and I
I think the advent of event sharing is making us think more carefully
about what we are sourcing. I think a halfway house here would be to
move the registration index to the marriage notes once it's detail has
been superseded, and of course it can still be sourced if necessary.

Glad I could help. :-)
Perhaps you have a bug, or some other issue that the programmers don't
know about yet. You may be able to help them to help you by reporting
the problem via the 'Report a problem' link in the Legacy Home tab.

Your statement that you in order to share events with a person is to add
them to your database is not correct. For example, my grandmother was a
servant in 1901 and I have shared her 1901 census with the head of

The Source clipboard has slightly odd behaviour, For example select a
citation and copy it to the clipboard, overwriting if necessary. Open
the source clipboard (set up for 5 sources) and the first tab, Source 1,
contains your citation. At the bottom of the clipboard there is a right
facing arrow.
Kathy
Using the Source Clipboard is not the way. Use the Save and Name option
and that will allow selective pasting from up to 10 sources.

I think every alternate name that you come across should be recorded
together with the source where you came across it. These names do not
have to appear in Individual and Family Group reports but for anyone
following on from your research they could be very useful.

Oddly I don't have this problem. A single click on any name in the
family view puts them into focus (husband or wife, or whatever words you
are using) and then a click on the Pedigree Tab gets them into the root
of the pedigree view. Ditto right-click always brings up the pop-up menu.
However, I

As I understand it when sharing an event the whole of the original
event, description, date, location, notes is shared. In order to add
details specific to the individuals sharing the event you assign them a
role and then you can add notes which apply only to them when you edit
their role.

I just reproduced this with an event regardless of how it's shared - typing
in the names of the people sharing or selecting names from the list of
individuals in the Legacy file.

I use the UserID as a two letter alphabetic code which identified the
root of the particular subtree followed by a modified Dollarhide number
within the subtree. The sorting seems to be standard alphanumeric
ignoring the fact that part of it is a number, so for example DN1024.0

They are accessible, of course, through the Sources icon, by then selecting
the detail connected to an event, but it is logical to also have them
accessible through the media icon.

Am I right in thinking that media linking is, for want of a better word,
not transitive. An image linked to a source citation then the source
cited for an event does not result in the image being linked to the event.
A typical situation: I have a census image sheet which I transcribe and
