I have installed StarOffice from a tar package and in the setup procedure it looked for a JVM. Since I didn't have a JVM at the time, I skipped it, and frankly, I really don't know what I'm missing. Maybe a java feature for their internal browser? Anyway, it still runs without

I found and downloaded the full PDF StarOffice Setup Guide. The initial setup looks exactly right, but the user setup just does not give me the right dialogues. And there is no bin subdirectory in the installation tree - only programs... Time to go to Sun support forum? Sigh... -- Oleg
