What is a Zombie process? Is it a process that is stuck waiting for
something from the kernel? How can someone kill the process and get a
report of what it was waiting for?
I have seen Zombie processes in "top" before, and I haven't investigated
Your server must be running KDM, in order for XDMCP to work.
If you are not running "graphical login", your server is most likely not
running KDM. (Try "ps ax | grep kdm").
You can actually run KDM without running "graphical login", but this is
more tricky, so most people don't do this right awa

It seems that your server is not answering XDMCP requests. Have you
enabled XDMCP in your display manager (xdm/kdm/gdm) and made sure your

It sounds like you might be a bit confused by the X11 "server" vs.

The best solution is to find your monitor's preferred sync rates at
their website, and then make sure you use these in your XFree86 config.
I went to www.hyundaiq.com and found my monitor's official sync rates (H

So far it seems the problem is with the TFTP. If the kernel actually
got to the client and began to run, you would see something like
"Uncompressing Linux...". While you are trying to boot the client, try
running "tail -f /var/log/messages" (I think?) on the server and watch

Etherboot is a network bootloader that can be loaded into NIC bootroms,
floppy bootsectors, LILO images, etc.
PXE is a set of standard protocols. A PXE-compliant network bootloader
is preloaded on a lot of new NIC bootroms. Other PXE-compliant

PXE is actually very similar to Etherboot. They are both IP-based, and
they both do a DHCP request and expect to learn where to get their
bootcode from.
The main difference is that PXE-format bootcode is different from
Etherboot-format bootcode. The best way to do this is to fixup an LTSP

Good evening! I found a tiny bug when installing LTSP 3.0.7:
Right after installing Debian Linux 3.0, I added the line "ALL: ALL" to

When I ran the lts_initialize script, it added some lines to my

It sounds like Etherboot is having trouble transmitting packets from
your client's NIC. Are you having trouble with any other workstations
that boot with Etherboot? Have you tried a different NIC in the same
