g LaTeX code "manually" is still necessary. The ERT (Insert TeX code) window is designed to enter directly LaTeX code. For example, if you want to add an unnumbered sectioning command (say a chapter) to your Table of Contents, you can open a ERT windows and type the LaTeX code for this

Lyx configuration on a Mac: problems
