still necessary. The ERT (Insert TeX code) window is designed to enter
directly LaTeX code. For example, if you want to add an unnumbered
sectioning command (say a chapter) to your Table of Contents, you can
open a ERT windows and type the LaTeX code for this

Alternatively, I think you
can place your bibliography, file.bib, in your texmf tree and dispense
with the path in that case (but you still need the \addbibresource).

is easy to install with the appropriate package. Gentium AFAIK needs

ade a camparison with LyX on my Ubuntu installation and I cannot
detect any problem. The students is using Mac Book Air; Mac OS X
version 10.5.6; Lyx version 1.6.1-Universal.
She tried to install again but to no success. Is this a know problem?

it's a matter of
permissions, because trying to call the program from a "dos" window I get an
error messages sayng that it is not possible to start this program.
Sorry, because I was showing the program to a Windows-W***d-IE addict who was
very inpressed by LyX on my Linux system
Quick suggestion. It is what I do all the time, with good results:
(1) export as latex
(2) put in a separate directoy all the stuff you need (latex file and bibtex
files).
(3) install tex4ht

to be used with the ibycus fonts

tried oolatex and deals with footnotes very well. Besides that, it
knows also ho to deal with jurabib and natbib -- a very important feature for
humanities. Going from Ooffice to Word is trivial and gives no problems at
all.

Another suggestion is to use the jurabib package. One of its many features
