I know that ATRAC compresses the audio somewhat by removing all
the frequencies that the human ear cannot hear. I have also found out
another way that it might compress the audio. I recorded one of my
lectures onto MD and then transferred it onto as .wav file on my
computer. When I
Minidiscs also feature in Strange Days, where they're used to record entire

Got my DVD player today and a copy of The Matrix...
And guess what...
Neo's selling an MD in that movie, but as some kind of data disc...
My guess is that while MDs and CDs don't "transmit" any signal, they
probably do output a lot of RF interference. I can't work out at which stage
this occurs though. The major problem comes from any oscillator that has
harmonics in the frequency ranges that are used by the plane's control

Excellent news! I knew it was only a matter of time before someone posted
this. I think wb is to be congratulated for persuing this problem to a

Hi list,
I've had my MZR90 for 2 months now. Maybe I'm a bit careless, but I've
already scratched the plastic over the LCD, so I'd recommend that when you
buy a portable, you stick a piece of clear tape over the LCD(s). When this
gets tatty, you can peel it off and replace it, leaving the

No problem. I've taken my 702 with me on each busines trip I've made. It has
been about 10 times through the X-Ray

you'll probably notice that the bans are only on Airbusses.
Is this from experience or some other reason? I have a couple of flights

This is from experience, and I'm almost certain it's because Aribusses are
fly-by-wire and therefore much more vulnerable to RF interference.

As far as I know, the DJ MD players (Dennon's MD2300R and the MD1000?)
try to act like the DJ CD players do
- pitch changed (speed)
- tone change (bass/treble)
The two can be linked so that you can play Barry White at techno speeds
but not have him sound like the chipmunks - something that
My R55 will only charge the battery when the clam shell is open and I press

Also, when I put a blank MD in it starts to record.
Anyone else have any problems list this? Suggestions to fix this problem
appreciated. -Pete

Hello MD-List readers
I just had a severe problem with my Sony MZ-R90 Minidisc recorder:
I was listening and editing a previously recorded interview. While pressing
T-Mark to add a new track, the minidisc shut down because of low battery.
Afterwards, the disk was erased (Blankdisc).
Did you
Today i got my sharp ms-702 from the US.
i live in israel so it took awhile to get it, anyway when i got it i
recorded some stuff with no problem.
i love the sharp it has great sound and an easy interface(besides a little
issue with the titling)
but there's a weird weird problem with the
Sorry everyone for the off topic but i don't know where else i can ask this (you
people are just so learn-ed).
I'm wanting to purchase a region-free DVD drive for my PC, and i was wondering if
there are any good websites with info on this, and what drive i should buy?
ALSO, does anyone know

It sounds like the battery was too low to update the TOC (table of contents)
WHen it started to write it, it just erased it and ran out of power. There
are ways to recover the disc, if you haven't written to it, you can clone
another TOC and get most of it back.
