There seems to be a lot of them up on ebay for very cheap. Before I

Is the optical output actually 44.1kHz (Unlike the SB lives)
Basically, if I was to send a PCM .WAV file out the output looped to the
input would it be bit for bit accurate?

In a recent magazine article mentioned that the capacity of Mini disc was 74
mins and 148 mins in Mono. Was this just stating the hypothetical capacity
or is it possible to run a mindisc in mono. Secondly is the equipment
available to achieve this?

That seems a bit harsh, really. Just because you've got MD, you may have
scenarios where you'd like to burn CD-Rs too. Perhaps if you had an MD (or
other) head in your car, and a CD autochanger?
Seems a little unfair to purport this being "plain stupid". Different from
the norm, perhaps.
The PX 1 is for a couple of the small mini systems, they have a 6 pin DIN
connector on them which is not control A1 (Control I its called if I recall
correctly)
the MD1 is control A1 - the same protocol used between most of the sony
audio equipment

By that definition, ATRAC is not compression. But by our consensus, ATRAC
is compression. We have decided that the comms definition is too narrow
for our needs, so we use a different definition, one with a broader scope.
Instead of an algorithmic transformation, compression is the process
Not to mention playing stuff with the pitch+speed set a couple of % up to
fit more add's in, and turning the start of every song into an add for the
station (Where there are no lyrics they talk)
Lucilly there are some stations that dont do all that shit.

Yes. Your expert knows sod-all about the PCI bus and video cards. This is a common
problem with PCI sound cards, and is actually caused by video card drivers.
It also aflicts ISA cards.
