Some cars have the safety switches _before_ the
high-current circuitry, some after (switch in-line
with the compressor clutch). The SDL has it before
the Klima, in the control circuitry.

My daughter says that when she tries to start the car, it will crank,
but won't fire. As she lets off the starter, it tries to fire.
Sounds like a classic ballast resistor problem. There may or may
not be a relay involved in this car, could just be the ignition
switch.

I don't know how to test the control box independent of the rest of the
ignition, but if the ignition
switch, coil, pulse generator and ignition cable are good, all that is left
is the ignition control box.
Try another control box. Problem should go away. Good luck.
Thanks Mitch, if someone doesn't have a better idea I'll take up on your
offer.
I tried the phone route for about three days, round and round we went trying
to find a close truck, never happened.

Formating - are you trying to format the drive that Windows boots
from? - Don't think it will let you do that. You could boot from a
floppy or CD with enough DOS or Linux to let you format the drive.

Don,
Is that spouse as in future ex-wife.
Reminds me of the story (perhaps just an urban legend) of a husband
who told his future ex Sell the Porsche and we'll split what
you get for it. She sold it and she handed him $.50...

in any other mode on high. I never knew why or if this was the nature of
the beast. The '83 300SD does blow at similar fan speed on high AC or
