I don't know about the valve situation but I wouldn't want an exhaust leak
under the interior compartment. Sitting stuck in traffic muight put you to
sleep permanently. I have done a few temp fixes using the exhaust repair
kits you can buy at McParts stores.

The vacuum
system works fine as everything locks and unlocks with the drivers side door
lock, except for the trunk. It seems like the hook on the latch is not
moving. I'll use some WD-40 on it and see if it frees up.

I put it in every car I have as it seems to drop the temp a few degrees. My
300CE tends to run hot and it has helped it. Most diesels I've had seem to

original window invoice. It lists optional equipment, one of which is item
551, a Anti-Theft Alarm System. The cost was $360. Still don't have it
fixed, but it is a factory item.

I change the pump as a matter of course on every old diesel I buy if it is
the lock down style. I also change the rubber return lines and cigar hose
if it looks suspect. This and a valve adjustment will make a huge

Speaking from experience on removing motor mount bolts. Clean the bolt so
that it is free of any dirt or other residue. Get the proper size hex
wrench in a socket drive. Use some taps on the wrench to break the bolt
loose. You don't want to strip the head of the bolt out.

Just bought a 83 300D. The brake pedal is rock hard and only moves down a
quarter inch or so and the car is slow to stop. The brakes don't seem to
