There vibration type sounds/feelings are difficult to describe in the
English language ! If I could spell it it would be grr , the
frequency seems higher than the firing rate of the injectors and appears
to be of a mechanical nature as opposed to a combustion thing . I can

The 60X heads were re-designed a couple times, and most of them, even
the -14- heads, work fine. The -14- heads WILL crack if overheat
I can't find the engine drain plug for the coolant on my OM603? Is it
the open ended pipe sticking out on the RHS about midway along the

Open circuit voltage of 12.5 indicates a good batery. 13.7 volts would
have been voltage with alternator charging ( nor a few seconds

W124. Non OEM manufactures seem to refer to colour codes - I guess this

My New W124 300D non turbo exhibits strong vibration from idle to 1600
rpm when engine is slightly loaded. Does not do this when out of gear
and you rev vehicle . It is rpm related and not road speed related . It

I have always set my injection timing on the OM617 with fuel pump in the
idle position. This I have discovered is in fact incorrect and should be

On inspection of my Engine block ( OM617) after having come back from
the engineers I see the one dowel pin between head and block was bent
over at about 5 deg. This resulted in the hole for the pin being
slightly elongated and this in fact has made the adjacent cylinder out
of round - the metal ha

won't come up in a compression test but will cause massive oil

Back in my wrench turning days I used K & W Kop
My 300D vacuum pump rocker arm roller is badly pitted ( single pipe
vaccum pump ) and am wondering whether to buy a rocker repair kit or the
complete pump. Is it likely that the pistons will also fail soon? I'm
not sure what milage this engine has done and was wondering how long the

After examining the block from my cracked head OM 617.912 engine a bit
of corrosion is evident at the top of the block where water managed to
get between sleeve and block. The engineering shop recommended I get a
replacement block which I did do but did say that they could boreout the

bearings - do you push out that steel ball and flush all the crud out
the back of the engine? Is it easy to reinstall that steel ball without

For the OM 617 engine there is a oil filter listed for the first 1000
km of engine life. Does anyone know the difference between this and the
regular filter. Is it really necessary to this this filter as its not
mentioned in the engine repair manual.
