This car is filthy, the clearcoat from the respray in ‘04 is nearly all peeled

appears to be mechanically solid. 20+ years of maintenance records and all of
the MB solid shop manuals.

I order stuff from FCPEuro and they have been good, I think free

I was watching the Mercedes source guy videos while I’m waiting on my truck to
get serviced and I saw his little handy-dandy kit for replacing the bushings on
the shifter linkage. Is it worth the 40 bucks to get the two special tools?
What do you think? I’ve never perform this on a W124 before.
I did them on the 126 using a bolt and some washers, which I think is
kinda the po-man's tool. Someone at some point had suggested that
approach. It worked OK but was a bit fiddly as there was not a lot of
room up in there to turn the nut/bolt to squeeze in the bushing. But it
didn't cost $4
First of all, don’t give a dime to Mercedessource. If you really want the tool
you can get one for around $20 online.
There are several approaches to replacing these little buggers.
1 - As Curley or someone suggested you can do it with some washers, nuts and a
bolt. This approach is sort of fid

No, I would not give uncle Kent a dime. Just about anything he sells is
available elsewhere for a lower price and better quality. You can get
those shift bushing tool all over ebay.

Next nubie 124 owner question. Had to utilize the defrosters this morning. I
had the defrost button mashed, fan on low and every 20 minutes or so the fan
would suddenly go to high, stay there for maybe two minutes, then go back down
to low. WTF?

Oh, and another one.the cruise control...when I went to engage (push up) it
it would accelerate like if I were pushing it forward. It would accelerate for

IIRC the defrost (left most?) button ignores the fan speed setting and puts
you into max fan for "full defrost".
If you wanted windshield vent that responds to fan speed its the next button to

Still yours isn't working right, I suspect it needs a re-solder...

Vent line from tank to above the rear axle is plugged. Mud daubers
like it. There is a rubber "flapper or door" on the end of the tube.

Agreed! Best time I had ever was driving a prof's 250SE on a sunny
spring day with the BIG sunroof open and the heater blasting! I love
the popup. I drove the original SDL almost all ~250k I put on it with
the sunroof popped up in back.
