Now that the dust has settled, the AC/hot air issue was way simple
at the R134 has created. If you had R-12 in there
you are supposed to change to R134 first and of course we will all do that.

The mechanical pushbutton switches malfunctioned on my '83 and caused the
unit to burn up.
The used unit I bought had to be resoldered, so while it was apart I

Your problem is that is going between heating and cooling erratically,
right? That
(light on versus out) if the monovalve is
always powered to a constant state while having alternating hot and cold it
should point to a bad monovalve.

Yeah, it was cooling just fine. She was driving along the road when

air one minute and cold the next. I checked the monovalve (perfect)

Spot on, Jim. I removed the floor mat, pushed the pedal to the floor a
couple times, started it up and drove away with smooth shifting in all
