Unfortunately I have a few more options to deal with. I am running
apache 1.3.9, rsa_ref, mod_perl-1.21, mod_ssl-2.4.9-1.3.9,
mod_php3-3.0.14 (with imap, mck, AND ORACLE support).

Why is mod_ssl broken if you get a page fault inside OpenSSL? Instead I woul

Sure, that's the price of flexibility...
For hints to packaging look at the various RPM specs flying around which
install Apache+mod_ssl+X+Y+Z..

On an old thread about Oracle and Apache;

OpenSSL/0.9.3a
mod_ssl 2.4.2 is supposed to be built against OpenSSL 0.9.4, not 0.9.3a.
You should start over as I s

4. unpack, configure, and install mo

Your applet itself would have to speak HTTPS. A socket connection opened
from an applet does not go through the browser, it's a direct connection
from the applet to some other communications endpoint. There is no
tunneling in this case.
