western union is very often used to scam people out of their money...
so i can see why ebay may have decided against that form of payment..
makes total sense to me.

But if that is the case, using the same logic, far more scams are
done these days with fraudulent Money Orders (See Craigslist for scam

So that leaves PayPal. And if you feel safe using them, great.

With all this talk (and reality) of economic woes and dire warnings of

curious whether this is impacting Sellers and more specifically, are you seeing
a drop in Buyers and Bidders? Any thoughts on this? Seems to

Hello Saul;
I have no idea what the movie-poster collecting world is like, but as
for my Monster Magazine trading world, I've found a serious decline in
activity. Right now My Store is at a peak with some greatest items that I've

I've been starting to list some stuff on eBay again this week
(user-id: filmposter.net).
When starting to prepare my auctions, I was looking for something in
the help section of eBay Germany, they announce an upcoming 'policy
change':
I have no clue how the economy is affecting the hobby, but I feel certain
there are three trends that have a larger effect on sales of poster dealers
and auctions:
1) There is such a HUGE amount of material being offered on a daily basis
that collectors very reasonably view all that is being
We currently have two really sets of auctions closing on April 1st and 3rd:
*one of 999 lobby card lots (each containing two cards per lot from the same
film) including a great collection of 200 cowboy western lots (400 cards in
all!), 20 of which are from Roy Rogers films
*and the other of 577
Perhaps they'll spend it on collectibles which can gain in value rather than
gas which just burns. I've been driving less and combining my trips. I also
try to use mass transit or walk.

The only thing that surprises me about this is that Marty is just now
finding out. eBay banned Western Union two years ago. But they only ended
auctions that mention it if they were reported to them. Now they are adding
filters that stop people from listing items in ways they don't allow.

Hi, Everyone,

I'd really appreciate it if you'd take a look! Link to ALL auctions and

We recently (as in the last few weeks) finally started adding a few items to
our website in a priced sale format, and I have been very pleased with the
results.
But, starting tomorrow night I'll definitely give the hobby my best test of

My Note: Dave mentions Pickup On South Street which I viewed for the first
time this past year. I then popped the DVD back into the player three more
times over the course of only 10 days. I was so knocked out by Widmark's
complex character portrayal. But even more so, of all people
Sorry. I have never bid on one of Heritage's online auctions. The Sunday
Internet Movie Poster Auction #58035 is the one I'm interested in. All items
end at 10PM? Is it like EBAY in that it does end at the time listed or does the
bidding continue until no one bids for like five minutes?
Business has never been better. There may be a recession, but we see no
signs of it here.
We have always had lots of overseas sales, but more so recently with the
weak dollar. The collectors think they are taking advantage of us..and I

take advantage all you want!!
yes you can ...in fact its somewhat better than ebay in that on

Hey Everyone,
Hope you are all having a great weekend. I have a customer that is looking
for a Pleasantville Lenticular poster. If anyone has one, please email me

My January and February were stronger than last year, my March is looking to be
about the same. The main change has been a slight uptick in the number of UK
and other European buyers taking advantage of the lower US dollar. Overall,
it's more of a buyer's than a seller's market, especially at
