ca see that one file (the index) is growing in size.
I see it grow up to 8M and it stays there.

Well, I just discovered through trial and error that threads ARE being
spawned on Redhat 8. The problem is that the ps that came with 7.2 7.3
was compiled to show threads as separate processes it seems. On Redhat 8
you have to add the -m switch to ps to make it show all threads. Just

We have found the command that pushes our database over the edge! It is:
SHOW VARIABLES;
All other db commands work (such as SHOW VARIABLES %a;) except for:
SHOW VARIABLES %
This should be SHOW

should not slow down your server. As to why you server is so slow
you will have to provide specific examples of what is slow. We reach
speeds of 600 queries per second on slower hardware. Also please

I would say try installing linuxthreads then recompile your current version of
mySQL to have linuxthread support. If that doesn't work try upgrading to 4.

the file mysqld.sock doesn't exist on the server.
I also can't find the file mysql.server.
I'm using Debian 3.0.
Debian-Package: mysql-server
shell mysql --version
gives the following:
mysql Ver 11.16 Distrib 3.23.49, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)

I also have the same problem.
I installed MySQL on my server and after reboot i got the error
message
when starting mysql:
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server
