Hi,
what shall I do in order to properly configure
a local HP840C printer ?
I have used the DrakConf application and :
- went through the 'Select Printer Connection'

- through the 'Printer Option' pannel
then nothing... and I got the small 'clock icon'

I don't think it can be done at installation time (an oversight on
Mandrake's part, IMHO), but you can install it manually afterwards.
The file kernel22-2.2.19-10mdk.i586.rpm is on the LM8 CD. You can
install that and edit your /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst to
reflect the change. It

I have a problem installing mandrake 8. when I finish installting the RPMs I

Hi,
I found these on kde.themes.org.
Not exactly what you are looking for but who knows. I have to do a
presentation to 'showcase' linux and I was thinking of using one of these to
reassure some of the hard liners that things don't have to be so different.
Okay, I've decided to wait until I can get 8.0 as a boxed set. Now, this
may sound stupid, but what's the difference between the PowerPack and the
ProSuite? Are they the same except the ProSuite has more applications or
are they totally different and aimed at a different audience? Thanks
Try using mouseconfig or mousedrake.
I have a USB trackball mouse with a Mouse whell and 4 buttons and it works
just fine. (Well I would like it to work differently, but it does the
job and works well for how it's currently configured.)
You could also use HardDrake to configure the mouse as

Try KDE's kups. I find that easiest for me to set up
printers.
My HP 850C works fine. You'll likely get about 3
drivers to choose from. It will behoove you to try
them all and pick the best for your default.
I understand you can tweak them and certain drivers
are better at certain tasks.

Hey Marcia.
First off. If you have a stable 7.2 going right now, I wouldn't rush
out and install 8.0 just yet. A lot of people have run into problems
with the install and boot of 8.0. I had two myself, but with my
experience I resolved the problem and everything is fine now. So if

I installed mandrake 8.0 on my second HD which is the secondary slave

Hey all,
I'm having a problem setting up my ActionTec PCI
call-waiting modem on the new Mandrake Linux 8. It's
an internal 56k modem using COM5 on Windows, and it's
configured on IRQ 9. When I've used Mandrake 6.1, I
could set it up using /dev/ttyS4 as /dev/modem (I

If your windows is on your first hard drive that is
hda and then your Linux drive should be hdb. You
should change hde to hda and then it would probrbly

I'd install the servers right off the bat. Linux Mandrake 8 is the best one
to use, IMHO, because it installs Apache with PHP, MySQL, and Perl right
off the bat. Other distro's may not. Usually you have to install those
separately which takes between hours and days depending on your knowledge
