There are a LOT of little gotcha's that aren't 100% intuitive (machine
membership in other machines local groups, where RDS stuff points to what,
I still remember one user telling me not to click OK when Outlook was asking
to empty the Deleted Items.
So I ask why that is such a big deal.

firewall ( separate the DMZ from Internal NET), then they aren't going
to be able to touch the internal LAN.
GPO processing would take place as LocalSystem so I don't think this is the
same issue. We have the legal notice set for our Win2k8 / Win2k8 R2 servers
(via GPO rather than local policy) without needing to do any tweaks that I'm
aware of.

Note it's not just pinout... it's protocol.
If you have a cable that simply re-packages the USB protocol in to a
RJ45 physical connection (your APC's?), it won't work with another

correct. If permissions were wrong, then nothing would sync.
The times I have seen this happen before it has been down to the cdo.dll not
being registered, or the wrong was registered.
Re-register the cdo.dll that is

I just watched the video, and it was enriching from a security
prespective accordingly. It's a very good example of Risk Assessment at
the highest levels affecting basically a global scope, so as the
presenter said a lot, the decisions and there raminfications are not to

One of the key take aways - for me - was that regardless of how smart their
people are - they don't know everything. But they KNOW that and they continue
to have a passion for learning and improving.
