Hello everyone.
I'm about to install SCCM for the first time. I'm confident about my
plans so far, but I have questions.
Right now I have SCCM planned for one server and a dedicated SQL
server, hosting a number of databases for other products. I would
like to save money and just have SCCM use
Just to be clear, if you're on the internal network then use the
proxy. If you take your laptop home/hotel/whatever, go direct to the
internet, right?
Here's one way:
function FindProxyForURL(url,host) { return PROXY

Basically, if you can ping the proxy at
You also have to worry that any network issues would cause the client
to not be able to log in. Depending on the network SLA this could be
quite bad. I've seen a lot of smbs use DSL/cable for net access...

I use Netbackup and vRanger (ESX) for backups at 2 different sites. I
hate tapes, so I just set up some iSCSI LUNs and back up to that.
Once a week we copy the Netbackup (or vRanger) images to a couple

Sorry for jumping in late..
I'm pretty sure you can export from the old server and import to the
new the following bits o' registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares\Security]
I do it, but it's not perfect.
First, I use a login script for my proxy setting needs (GPO for IE):
ffcfgSource = \\MYDOMAIN\SYSVOL\MYDOMAIN\scripts\mozilla.cfg
ffcfgTarget = c:\program files\Mozilla Firefox\mozilla.cfg
ffcfgEnable = c:\program files\Mozilla Firefox\greprefs\all.js

I used Terminals for the past couple weeks. Not bad, but seems sorta
buggy and the minor issues I ran into annoyed me enough to stop using
it.

Guys,
I need an opinion. Here's the situation:

Thanks for your input Joseph!
