Yes they released a version 8.1 for MAC 10.7 about 11/2011 that works fine.
I have not been able to get the Aladdin 72K JAVA tokens to work with OpenSC. So
if you go with the safenet tokens then your likely going to have to build on
the proprietary

Thanks for your help. I think I got it working now. I reinstalled openct and
double checked /etc/reader.conf.d/reader.conf

and tried downloading the latest driver from http://www.hidglobal.com.
Unfortunately, it seems that the tar file, that HID uploaded is not correct:
