documentation yet.
As an alternative you could use SOAP.
For example with GLUE you can use SSL to connect from a Java client to your
EJB.

mechanism in the portion to say "the protocol is https, not http

You can however plug OpenJMS into Orion as a resource provider, and use

Yes, or at least that's my understanding. The SSL negotiation is done before
the Host: header can be sent.

This is normal servlet engine behavior. Your HTTP and HTTPS are two separate
sessions. Orion has a way to configure the default website to share sessions
across HTTP and HTTPS websites.
In the default-web-site.xml be sure to have this line:
