Hi, If you are happy with the lens and will use it as it is now... then don't touch it :) But I do believe you can't really use the lens this way and probably a repair wouldn't really worth it's price if it's made by a professional. So you can give it a try, open it up and see if you can fix

If you decide to take it apart, document and mark every single step so you can get it back together properly. When I've taken apart primes, getting the helical screwed back on properly is a PITA. Also, be careful of the grease. If you wipe off too much, you may have problems with smooth turning
