Taking a guess here, it sounds like you may have a Tamron Adaptall
lens with the m42 adaptall mount attached. (You could get a KM
adaptall mount to replace the m42 adaptall mount and save yourself the
need of an m42 to K adapter.

Maybe the difference between 1:7 and 1:4 is not that much? It should
probably give you the closest focus at the wide end in macro mode if
it allows that. Some lenses will only lock into macro at a particular
focal length.

Actually Igor, I was half expecting to get a "No Card" warning. All of the
instructions are very specific as to slot #1 or #2. JPEGs aways go on #2 under
RAW+. Card utilization is always #1 and then #2.
