Pentax IS will almost certainly be the sensor-based variety. Since that's coming, I can't see them developing a whole line of lenses. Oddly enough, I bet N and C will go the same route eventually and , eventually, phase out there IS lenses. Doesn't help much if you want something now, however.

The only extended warranties I would consider would be for used vehicles and road hazard for new tires. Bill Extended warrantees are almost entirely profit. Especially in electronics.
