Yup. Bug confirmed. Pause causes a total lock-up until the process
uses up all the memory on the PC then the kernel kills the offending
process. Then the init-script restarts the server and all is back to
normal.

I do run ZoneAlarm and considered a firewall problem. I've enabled the
mplayer program to pass through and slim.exe. The mplayer test does get
audio to the PC speakers. Any ideas if the AlienBBC calls another
program which might be blocked?

No, I don't think I need any information, I think it happens every
single time. I was keeping it a secret - I didn't think I'd get away

error noted above. For the others, here's what happens:

If you want reassurance - with -verbose 1 on, if you get a packet lost
message and audio is not garbled, then patch is working. Just one
packet lost will result in garbled audio.
The packet are dropped probably due to network congestion so it is
worse at peak times - on r4 it seems to be arou
Up to 70 mins now. I've heard a few oddities, but it's corrected itself
within a few seconds; I guess that's what was tripping it up before.

The patch file mentioned above in post 76 was the one that did it, and
compiled using the following options:
./configure --language=all --disable-mencod
32 minutes and counting :)
That's 10 more than it's ever managed before - it's looking promising!

mainly Windows users testing so most comments were directed at them.
If you have not changed demux_real.c in libmpdemux directory then
-verbose 1 will not do anything significant.

Yesterday I upgraded to AlienBBC v1.0 (thanks for this; it's a great

Does this do the 'full' install as detailed in the individual steps at
the start of the thread (minus live555 I assume?), or are extra bits
needed to get mplayer up and running ? Does everything get put in the
right directory by the apt-get install ?

As you saw my original intention was to put the discovery setting under
'record to profile' in the command section.
Then I found out that changing discovery mode works the same as changing
stations behind the scenes so I would have ended up writing loads of
redundant code!

Doesnt write a log file at all (I've set a the debug level) so I guess its
being ignored in inittab (if I run it in a shell it puts down a debug file.)
Tried moving it up a line removing & adding a line feed at the end but no
joy.

I'm afraid that I think that's beyond me. I don't use MusicMagic (my
server is Linux), and I've never actually seen it in use.
