the proper way to do this in RH is through the program 'chkconfig'.
it would appear though that chkconfig does not like scripts with an extension
such as .init. took me a while to figure that one out. (this is on RH5.2)

That is because they log to syslog.
# grep mail.debug /etc/syslog.conf
mail.debug
e commands passed to pop3d from the client (user,
pass, list, etc) wouldn't you need to tap into the session or tell
qmail-pop3d via an internal function (sprintf, syslog) to output those

If you want username/password logging (including failed logins, with
the bad password), Paul Gregg's implementation of checkpoppasswd does
this. Obviously once they're logged in, it's under control of pop3d,

And it works well.
But I have a problem in pop3.
Only one user whoes account is 'hwany21' can't login through pop3 port.
Others has no problem in using pop3.

You can't split lines in inetd.conf using \ (or anything else). Just stick it
all on one line and take the \ out.

Well, the problem clearly is that qmail-popup thinks that backslash

not to use syslog for logging. But it seems to be that I can't write
the logged info to STDERR, since the info would be sent to POP client
(I confirmed this using telnet to port 110).
Right now, I invoke qmail-pop3d in the following manner:

Is it possible to configure a single qmail-pop3d daemon to service
multiple virtual domains? I have attempted to RTFM and have not found
anything that says that I can/cannot specifically do this.
I currently use the following to start it:
/usr/local/bin/tcpserver -v -R -H 0 pop3 \
/var/qmail
My goal is:
Install qmail to work with virtual users. (i.e. No account in
/etc/passwd. No /home/user. Mail delivered to /var/spool/mail.)
I have downloaded and installed qmail, tcpserver, qmailadmin, etc..
Everything looks good and runs except qmail-pop3d does not work with
virtual users

I am using qmail-1.03-30 and its working fine as far as SMTP connection is
concern.
But i am using ipop3d for for pop daemon, which is very slow.
Is it possible to use qmail-pop3d with Mailbox format ???
