Eric, you posted while i was typing much of the same. Earlier in the thread, I linked to pictures of your Quickbeam with the 8-speed hub. Is that the one that gave you trouble? On Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9:56:25 AM UTC-6, Eric Norris wrote: > > Joe: > > I have IGH on two bikes—both are

I hear you on all that, Joe, and basically agree as well. And I don't mean to turn this into a IGH debate - but in this case it's vaguely relevant to the discussion at hand about how best to add gears to a QB/SO. The things that I personally like about IGHs happen to be the same things that

;-) For now, maybe. There was also a time when Grant wouldn't tig weld a frame. I know he doesn't like IGHs because it's not immediately visible how they work from viewing the outside, but I also think that applies to the more elaborate ones. Who as a kid didn't tear down and rebuild one

I feel the same way and am eventualy, absolutely, buying a sturmey archer IG hub for my QB. Only question is whether it's the classic, easily-cabled 3 speed with chain indicator or the nicer but heavy 8 speed with the wierd rotary shifting, like Eric Norris did:

In case i didn't say it clear enough, i compared to the QB because the Simple One is supposed to be a clone. From center of bb to front axle on QB looks like about 24 1/8", while the Ram is about 23 1/2". That should give you an idea about tco. My ram has 33 tires and fenders and, even then,

Regarding my description of differences above: I meant that the QB is 1/2" longer top tube, not 1/2 cm. I recently raised the handlebars and shortened the stem on the Ram, and the resulting, more upright position now seems to work better with my long torso. -- You received this message

I lack the language to describe ride characteristics well, but I have both a 60 Ram and a 60 Quickbeam - so close enough. I'll say that, despite theIR similarities on paper, the subtle differences make them feel like very, very different bikes. I'll also say that I would never, ever sell

Interesting that the description specifically describes them as a tire for 'transforming your 29er mountain bike.' That's not unlike the original 26x1.75 'compass' tires. I don't think Jan had any delusions of them fitting many existing road bikes, but I'm sure some customs will follow.
