I've been trying to write a program in C to do user authentication and
allow them to log into my machine. The problem is that it won't compile
in 5.0. It gives me compile errors in tmp files.

I set up the .rhosts file in the /root of one of the machines with the

OK. I took out the ext2 floppy device and have restarted everything.

I am able to get the system to boot with the boot disk that came with the

Of course it does until you try to use it? in your case you must put the
floppy before you try to access it...

First of all I currently have the impression 5.1 is somewhat buggy. How
does it compare to 5.0 in terms of usability? I've got some things
working just fine (NS4.05, SO40, KDEb4, gs5.10, ppp, etc.) and I don't

I wonder if anyone out there can help me. I have a 5.0 system
which has been working fine for some time now. I have a 3com 3c509
installed on a busy network and although everything is still working O.K,
the driver keeps complaining:
Waiting for 3c509 to discard packet, st
You'd have to put ttyp0, ttyp1, etc, in /etc/securettys to be able
to login as root remotely. Not a recommended solution, as it invites
security problems. As far as commands not being found, it's most likely a
matter of the path not being set up correctly. For the record, 'su' and
'su -'

Here is what I get from the status:

I have a nice script that I found (redhat-ppp mailing list I think)
Worked for me the first time.
If you don't know what your script should look like then change the
settings for your modem in win95 to "Show terminal screen after dial" and
watch what goes on, Mine I saw:

What do I have to do to give permission that from another Linux Box can

I've compiled and configured ISC dhcpd 1.0pl1 on
RH 5.0; no problems.
I ran the following command:
route add -host 255.255.255.255 dev eth0
as advised in the dhcpd README.
Everything seems fine, but Win95 clients are not
picking up the dhcp offers.
