I have the Promise UDMA66 (PCI) controller and installed RH 6.22.
At loading from a diskette, in addition I enter ide0 = etc... and
operating system boots,
but at loading from the hard disk (LILO) OS don't boots in any case,
excepting, whe
I did load it. This will be the first time I create a cd from Linux.
Anyway, the command I expect that I should use is:
cdrecord -v -dev=0,5,0 -speed=2
Does this look correct to you?

relate to the mdrecovery process, but it's still launched at boot.

I have configured my RedHat6.2 Server for console access.
I have instructed the BIOS, kernel(LILO) and inittab for console access,
all set to 1152008n - COM1.
LILO has the 'append="console=ttyS0,115200n8"' set and inittab has
S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty console 115200 vt100.

I just set up a Red Hat 7.0 machine. It's on an NIS domain with several
other Red Hat machines. The problem with this new machine is that I
can't telnet or ftp into it, even from the machine itself. ypbind is
running, and I can telnet, ftp, ping all of the other machines from this

Red Hat Linux 7 doesn't have this problem, neither does the errata
kernels for Red Hat Linux 6.2. To work around the problem in the

You'll have no problems with the ram, and the cpu shouldn't be a problem
you'll just have to recompile your kernel to do SMP. Maybe think about upgradeing to
2.4.x?

manager. its very nice, i use it at home and work.

Get rawrite.exe and boot(net).img from a

I think the answer you are looking for is this:
in your /etc/lilo.conf file you should see the line:
boot=/dev/fd0
you want to change it to read:
boot=/dev/hda
This is for IDE drives. if you have a scsi drive, use /dev/sda.

this is something i'm trying to make; to get ipchains to make any
packet hang unless the client tries to connect to a few particular
ports. Portsentry can almost do that too I guess, but not on ports used
by running daemons like portmap, BIND, httpd, etc...

Boot from the diskette, make sure the kernel you want is in /boot, make
sure your /etc/lilo.conf points to it, and run "lilo".
