I am a little lost in your description! You failed to mention what your
son ate for breakfast! :)
Now the solution.
1. you can clamp the shaft, heat the shaft just above the hosel and with a
gloved hand twist and remove the head
2. You can remove the grip, slip a piece of PVC tubing over the
The only potential problem is if the shaft is installed via the traditional
Ping slammed and crushed ball bearing method. No amount of heating and
twisting will get the head off. Most of us have removed heads from Ping
putters by cutting the shaft near the hosel and drilling out the bearing, I
method because you can restore the putter when
it's time to sell it.

Hi Don,
I haven't done any Nikes yet but having done a few Callaway's I do have
some thoughts.
It is different when seating your puller against the adapter vs seating it
against a traditional hosel in that the adapter is also a ferrule and as
such it's OD is just larger than the shaft
Don't know about the Nike but I recently reshafted a R9. The ferrule/adapter
compressed a little in the hydraulic puller(maybe 1/8 of an inch) I cut that
off and installed a ferrule over the top (it could have been an o ring or
something similar or nothing at all if the shaft has not been
So what is the latest poop on reshafting the Nike adapter? We discussed this a

The person I'm reshafting this for wants a low-torque shaft but not very
'stiff'. Wishon has one that I think will work. I'm not going to insert it
all the way. I'll check the frequency of the shaft I'm removing
cutting for frequency.

Use a heat gun and standard shaft pulling techniques. I had no problems
with mine. The heat gun provides more uniform, gradual heating of the
hosel/head and the shaft pulled easily. The other possibility (if you're
going to go with a 35-mm insertion depth) is to cut off the old shaft flush
Drilling the old shaft tip to make a blind bore is a fairly common practice.
But there's one caveat - be extremely careful when drilling. The slightest
deviation from center can result in you drilling through the aluminum sleeve
and into the hollow head. Take it from one who has done it. The

Golfsmith has an adaptor that'll make it much easier. They had a good

I think the ferrule adaptor is the secret. If you don't have that and heat
the ferrule to remove, it's possible to end up heating the head too much.

Hi
all,
I have a request to

Jack,
With regard to the head there should be no special ferrule needed. I've no experience with the Aldila NV shaft so I can't comment about that part. See ya next time you're in Hawaii.

Hello All,
I have a friend with a 975J that's thinking of having it reshafted. He
just had Titleist reshaft his 981 irons with the GAT95 shafts, and loves
them.
Here's the question(s). Has anyone reshafted a J with the new Purple

Finally,

I hit the Purple Ice in my 975 J this summer and like it a lot but
for some reason I seemed to get a fairly high ball flight with it,
though.
I switched to a MFS65N and that has been perfect for me. I've got the
