Merry weekend!
My mac, specs below has always had trouble with connecting to bluetooth. An
example being I recently bought a new bluetooth speaker. Through the phone is
connects and sounds great. Through the MacBook pro it comes in and out, sounds
muffled and disconnects a lot.

So I did the "hold down the power key and pressing option, then tried to
reinstall Lion and the latest back up from time capsule. It went through
the process for 16 hours but I left it overnight but woke up to it showing
the whirling wheel and the gray startup screen as per when the issue

perfect if you use sporadically. It works well with Google Docs too.

We've had a hard drive fail. It seems like it is whirring and the light is on
but it's not showing up on Finder. We've tried two cables, but the connection
to the drive is a bit worn and slack. Saying that it's getting electric to the
drive because as I said it's light is on.

iPad 2 (ease of use, light, good for travel) or the macbook air, same same but
different and probably more flexible for him.

I've an issue with a previously fine, set up for Mac, external hard drive. It's
not showing in the main finder location bit down the right, the icon for it
just shows on the desktop. Not encountered this one before. Any insights most
appreciated.
