Well, you cannot have 2 different versions of WE on the same install of Windows. You could install VMWare Player and run a virtual copy of Windows with whatever version of WE you would care to put on it. That's the only way I know of to have 2 different versions of WE readily available.

Ethics likely have nothing to do with it. Just because something is open source doesn't mean it is free to anyone who wants to use it. Usually open source software will be released under a particular license. Some are completely free to anyone while some are free only for noncommercial use.
