There are no hard and fast rules. Its not a number in the software that after its reached stuff doesn't work. There seems to be a gradual degradation in performance (initial scan time, remount scan time, GUI responsiveness etc) as the database gets larger. Exactly where things start to get really

go to settings/advanced/squeezebox server which should give you a progress report. I think it will be slower if you are playing music whilst it scans but see my post as I think I crashed mine byinstalling an applet (which always reboots Squeezeplay devices like teh touch) mid-scan.

Mine too seemed to stop the first time it was doing the scan. Powered down and restarted and all tracks, album art etc scanned successfully. You should see the tracks scanned going up and a % -- tank121 tank121's
