Não tenho acesso ao Smiles, mas tenho diversas aplicações que só
funcionam em IE que abrem perfeitamente.
A performance é claro que não fica igual, mas ajuda e muito.

Tem o G4L que faz algo semelhante ao Norton Ghost:
Use um livecd e gere a imagem do hd com o comando dd da seguinte forma:
dd if=/dev/sdx of=/local/da/imagem.iso
troque o /dev/sdx pelo caminho do seu hd que pode ser hda, hdb, e assim
por diante. Depois use o contrário para restaurar.
dd if=/local/da/imagem.iso of=/dev/sdx

Testei aqui e funciona em parte... Pelo menos pra mim.
É possível acessar o site e movimentar a conta, mas o ponteiro do mouse fica
na condição de espera, o que impede os cliques. Utilizando o teclado para
acessar às opções dá pra movimentar entre as páginas e menus. Outra coisa é
