As the user is using styles, can a particular style be selected and

I am not sure if this is just me, or a bug in the software.
I am currently working on my ECA (End of Course Assesment) for the open
university, part of this is to answer a question in 60 - 100 words. If
I goto statistics it seems to give me the same word count, regardless of
the fact that

The beta version of OpenOffice.org has functionality to count the words
in a selection. However, it is not reccomended that you use this for
important documents until it is released as OpenOffice.org 2.0, because
