I used to use it when first purchased and, coming back to it, I find that I
can't hear anything through the speaker or ordinary headset (not bluetooth)
once I've gone into recording mode. I can't remember but, is this normal?
What's the work around?

I always use my thumb and index finger of my right hand and turn the rotor
either way, depending on where I want to get to. Be careful not to be too
far up or down the screen when doing this. I find about a third down is
best and past the information at the top.
