My wife's sister using an IMac 24 running Mountain Lion has recently setup a
gmail account of her own following the death of her husband who operated a
bigpond account
She had been sending and receiving emails
Hi Graeme,

Hi Graeme
If that doesn't work, the other thing you can try is for her to log into the
Gmail account online (i.e. in Safari for example from www.gmail.com ) and then

Sometimes if the message gets stopped when it's downloading, it's doesn't get

Yes I agree with Tim. On occasions an email server for one reason or another
will become unavailable. The problem could be local, with your router, slightly

Thanks for that Tim Carlo, I'll see how it behaves tomorrow.

Odd issue.

Ok Martin thanks for that.
Do you only have one Mail Account?
What Port are you using for Sending Mail?
Go to Edit SMTP Server List from Outgoing Mail Server under Accounts in
Mail Preferences.
(You use the arrow on smtp.reachnet.com.au then click Edit SMTP Server List)
Then to Advanced

Hi Martin,
The slow upload speed certainly isn't helping, I've heard that Reachnet is
painfully slow ;-)
Try the following:
1. Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home Library Mail
Mailboxes Outbox.mbox.
2. Drag the Outbox.mbox to the Trash and empty the Trash.
