Hi Everyone, First time poster here.
Silky, from what I have read, and understand even about new businesses based on existing models, is that not all businesses that are setup with the intention of running, and becoming successful, end up turning into somethign successful. Everyone talks about the success stories such as Google, Dell, and others out there, but very few people talk about the less successful, or even the ones that come out of startup camps such as those organised here, and other places. >From the last startup camp in Sydney, soon after I discovered this group, I started using all three projects that came out of it, I've recommended those projects to friends, and they appear to have used them on the odd occasion. So all that work hasn't gone to waste, just because it hasn't exploded out of the starting blocks, doesn't mean that it won't be successful. There is still time to build up users, and as long as the webhosting is available, and the domains are working, and the code stays on the site, there is the potential for new visitors, and possibly investors. So just because they don't explode into something great by the end of the weekend that they were started on, doesn't mean you should discredit them, and say that developing the site/program was a waste of time, because there are people out there who are probably looking for something just like that to use for themselves. People like Silky, who obviously don't think that these startup camps are worthwhile, simply because he didn't find any use for the projects that come out of them, are the kind of people who discourage other people from trying something new, finding and starting something outside the square. Silky, leave these people alone, they want to spend time developing something new, and different, it may not have the desired outcome of success that you seem to have your mind set towards, but the journey taken is what it is all about, and whether or not the site/project becomes successful, the people developing it most certainly had a great time.
