Sounds as though your husband does not like spinach salad. I dont' blame him.
IIn spite of the fact that I absolutely love spinach and eat it often, spinach
salad gives me jaw fatigue. Faith G.

Hi Faith...the article (I'll see if I can dig it up) about spinach leaching
calcium was about dogs and cats...not humans. I was only questioning if the
same could be true for humans ...when a hospital nurse gave us a medical report
that in some types of human kidney stones, dark leafy green veggies might have
been partial cause. Of course now my husband thinks he is exempt from spinach
salad :)
After reading Robert Becker's book "Body Electric" and his reports of rapid
healthy bone growth with his CS/EIS experiments, I wondered if simply
ingesting CS/EIS would help reverse osteoporosis. It's all interesting to me
because I've been a big spinach eater since I was a teen and I'm now late 50's
and have osteoporosis. No Dr or anything I have ever read points to dark leafy
greens as being part of what causes osteoporosis, but all of this has made me
curious. Lin

I do not know of any antibiotic that will strengthen bones. Antibiotics
provide healing. I have never heard of spinach leaching calcium from bones.
That's a first. Faith G.

Thanks Dee, he started feeling better yesterday! I am not sure of the
reason the leafy greens were listed as being culprit in one of the 3 catagories
of types of stones. However, I do know that spinach for those of us that feed
raw diets to our dogs and cats, is not recommended as a food to feed very
often. The reason there is that it can leach calcium from their bones. Maybe
someone else can clairfy there if it's the same for humans. Oh..that reminds me
that I wanted to post to this group, to ask if EIS will in anyway help
strenghten bones.

I am amazed at this! We are being constantly told to eat *loads*
of leafy green vegetables, and here we are being told that they can cause
kidney stones! What is the truth? I suppose the old adage of moderation would
apply, but it is surprising, none the less. Dee PS I do hope your poor husband
is better soon Lin and I'm sure the good wishes of the group go out to him.

My poor husband has just been through 2 weeks of misery from one
kidney stone that was lodged just an inch from dropping into the bladder.
We've spent 4 nights in the ER, with complications from dehydration, vomiting
and diarreaha. We've learned much about this problem during this episode.
There are 3 types of typical kidney stones and each is unique in what it is
composed of. Having a lab analyze your stone is a big plus to knowing how to
prevent them for you in the future. There are many foods and meds that
contribute to the formation of stones. Of course plenty of fresh water helps
in all cases. We were very surprised when a hospital nurse showed us a list of
several "culprits" for a specific type of stone. Dark leafy green veggies and
brewed tea were high on the list for one of the three types of stones!
